Focus on Truck Driver Health Can Mitigate Accident Risks
The nature of the job doesn't leave a truck driver with a lot of opportunities to eat a healthy diet, or too many options for exercise. A truck driver spends up to ten hours a day or more driving in the same seated position, eating greasy, fatty foods at roadside truck stops. There's little time for exercise, and hardly any chance to get a medical checkup. It's little wonder then that so many truck drivers are obese, and suffer from obesity-related diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and hypertension. However, trucking companies want to change all that. Many companies are now investing in fitness experts and nutritionists to advise truckers about right diet and exercise choices. Others are offering financial incentives to drivers who can lose weight, stop smoking or meet other lifestyle goals. The point is to encourage truckers to make safe and healthy lifestyle modifications, to remain fit. Hawaii truck accident lawyers and motorists wouldn't really complain. After all, a healthier truck driver is a much safer trucker.
