Magnesium Sulfate Can Cut Cerebral Palsy Risk

A premature baby's risk of developing cerebral palsy can be substantially reduced if the mother is given a dose of magnesium sulfate just before the delivery.

According to a team of Australian researchers, the technique seems to work very well in the case of babies born before 30 weeks of gestation. They believe that the technique, if used correctly, could help prevent approximately 150 cases of cerebral palsy every year. In fact, doctors have been calling the discovery one of the biggest advancements in the prevention of cerebral palsy.

Unregulated Bus Inspection Services Increase Accident Risks

Commercial motor carriers need to be inspected regularly, in order to ensure that they are properly maintained, and fit to ply our highways.  Hawaii bus accident lawyers have been concerned at a recent slew of bus accidents that are being linked to inadequate inspections performed by private bus inspection services.

Risk of Medical Errors Increases Due to Technology Hazards

The ECRI Institute has released a list of the biggest 10 health technology hazards of the year.  The list includes several technologies that medical malpractice attorneys are already very concerned about.

For instance, the number-one technology hazard, according to the list, involves the use of ventilator alarms.  According to the Food and Drug Administration, ventilator alarm-associated fatigue resulted in about 800 patient deaths in 2010.

Police believe that intoxicated driving and speeding were the reasons for a fatal car accident in Hawaii last month. The accident occurred on a Maui highway over the Prince Kuhio holiday weekend. Five people were killed in the accident.    MORE >>

Birth Injury Lawsuit Claims Injuries During C-Section

A couple has filed a lawsuit against the state of Iowa, alleging that doctors at a hospital damaged the woman's bladder during a C-section delivery, and also injured the newborn baby during birth.
