Davis Levin Livingston's Clare Connors Appointed New Attorney General

Attorney General, Clare ConnorsDavis Levin Livingston is pleased to announce that our attorney, Clare Connors was recently appointed by Governor David Ige to be Hawaii’s next attorney general. Attorney Connors will be replacing Russell Suzuki.

As the Hawaii attorney general, Ms. Connors will now be the top legal and law enforcement officer serving the state. Her appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

During her time with us at Davis Levin Livingston, attorney Connors has handled numerous cases involving medical malpractice, personal injury, consumers’ rights, civil rights, commercial disputes, and insurance bad faith matters.

In addition to providing our clients with top-quality representation, attorney Connors has also used her legal skills to assist the federal government with the prosecution of fraud, child exploitation crimes, and other felony offenses.

Attorney Connors started her legal career in Hawaii working as a law clerk for federal District Judge David Ezra. She was also an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Hawaii from 2004 to March 2011. Before that, Ms. Connors was part of the Attorney General’s Honors program with the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, D.C., and served as a trial attorney for the DOJ Tax Division. Attorney Connors has one B.A. degree in ethics, politics, and economics and another B.A. degree in international studies. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Governor Ige had the following to say about attorney Connors’ qualifications for attorney general:

“Clare is an accomplished attorney who has experience with both criminal and civil litigation. She has the skills to defend the state in legal proceedings, provide outstanding legal advice and counsel, and manage the largest law firm in the state. She will be a tremendous asset as the chief legal officer and chief law enforcement officer of the State of Hawaii.”

Speaking about her appointment, attorney Connors said:

“I am humbled by Governor Ige’s nomination and honored to serve the people of the State of Hawaii. I look forward to joining the Deputy Attorney Generals and professional staff and to contributing to the important work of the office.”
