May 10, 2011 – Honolulu, Hawaii – In a report from Hawaii News Now, a near- fatal pedestrian accident took place on Hana Highway in Kahului.
An unidentified 27-year-old man from Wailuku was walking along Hana Highway, northbound, when he was struck by a car.
The driver of the car, an unidentified 32-year-old man from Pukalani was driving his Honda Accord when he struck the pedestrian on Saturday, May 7, at about 12:49 a.m.
The injured pedestrian was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku. He was listed as being in critical condition. The driver in the near-fatal pedestrian accident wasn’t injured.
Police are still investigating to see if alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the pedestrian accident.
