August 18, 2010 – Ewa Beach, HI – A 77-year-old man passed away on August 14th after being struck by a car while pushing his moped at an intersection.
KITV4 Honolulu reports that Leonardo Agno of Ewa Beach was pushing his moped at the intersection of Fort Weaver Road and Kaimalie Street when he was struck by a Toyota Corolla.
A 23-year-old Ewa Beach woman was the driver responsible for the August 13th accident which took place around 4:15 PM. Agno was in the crosswalk when he was hit and transported to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition. He later died from his injuries around 9 PM the next day.
Agno is the 37th traffic fatality reported on Oahu this year, compared to 38 this time last year.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 Crash Statistics, there were 107 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in Hawaii.
